Here’s what they say on Yelp:

I was seeking cooking lessons and googled some options in NYC and found Chef Robo’s website- www.chefrobo.com Rob was a total professional from start to finish. He was great at answering all my questions and easy to connect with. I have now done two cooking lessons with him and each was awesome. I feel like he really helped me be a better cook. I think he would be great with all levels of home cooks. Each lesson we made a few dishes- Moroccan and Italian foods!

I liked his cooking/ teaching style so much, I just used his services for a friend’s birthday party I was hosting. I didn’t feel like cooking and wanted to impress, so I reached back out to Rob. We had him come over the day of and do a great Northern Italian inspired dinner for 6. Rob was great with our dietary needs, allergies and taste preferences. He did everything from start to finish, an awesome cheese plate, salad, main dishes and sides. He made awesome food, was fun to have in our home and cleaned up our kitchen.

I found Chef Robo (Rob) after searching online for in-home cooking lessons in the New York area.  Rob got back to me quickly and we scheduled a class for the following weekend.  On the day of the class, he met my husband and I at our house, where the three of us sat down and settled on a menu. Rob gave great guidance and plenty of options.  We then went shopping together for ingredients at a local supermarket, where Rob gave advice on how to select for best quality.  Once back home, Rob started with the basics we needed including knife skills and how best to prep one’s work space.  We both found Rob extremely easy to learn from and very patient with novices.  He taught extremely useful tips and shortcuts throughout.  By the end of four hours total, we had learned how to make an excellent holiday dinner including two appetizers, two mains, and two sides.  We got so much out of the class, we took a second with Rob soon after!

A week or so after the classes, when my husband and I were preparing the meal for our party, Rob answered several follow-up questions we texted to him. Then, Rob followed up with us to ask how the meal turned out. The food was a huge hit, everything from the apps through to the main meal really impressed our guests!  Rob greatly raised our cooking abilities and confidence, and I highly recommend his classes.

My husband and I had the greatest experience with Chef Robo! I love food but never learned to cook. My husband is a bit more confident in the kitchen but has his staple dishes and doesn’t really stray from them. We received the class as a wedding gift and finally booked it last week. First off, he really took the time to learn about us and customize our class to what we wanted to do. I was interested in roasting a chicken and RJ wanted to make fresh pasta with our new kitchenaid mixer and assorted attachments. Chef Robo was totally into it and made some suggestions (we’d just been thinking fettucine, he said ravioli–I’m so glad we took his suggestion! It was delicious!). We made butternut squash ravioli (from scratch!) with a lemon brown butter sauce and a citrus and herb rubbed whole roasted chicken.

He arrived at our apt with all the groceries and after chatting for a few minutes, he put us straight to work. Let it be noted that I had never touched raw poultry before. It shook down to a good mix of hands-on and demos. He was laid back and friendly, taking the time to answer all of our questions but keeping us moving along.  We ended up having so much fun and the meal itself was just phenomenal! I actually think we can even do it again without him guiding our every move! We will definitely take another class with him soon.
